The emotional spectrum

Every published piece is placed on a five-step spectrum, from light to dark. The levels describe emotional intensity and atmosphere — how much weight a piece carries — so you can choose what you are ready to read.

The labels are descriptive, not moral. A dark piece is not more honest, more important, or more dangerous than a light one; a light piece is not less serious. They are simply different kinds of weather, recorded as they were.

  3. 3Mixed0 pieces

Crosscurrents: pieces that hold more than one feeling at once and do not resolve neatly.

  4. 4Heavy0 pieces

Weather that leans on you: doubt, grief, resentment, the harder inventories.
